My Flirt with Fashion Photography

It’s true.

For a brief moment in my creative career I thought I wanted to go into fashion photography. I even held a few semi-legit fashion shoots. It was a fun stint where I learned a lot about studio lighting, post production, composition and (most importantly) interacting with people. It’s not as easy as you think to make a person feel comfortable and make good photographs.

‘Pushing Buttons’ a Video Blog

Pushing Buttons‘ is a video blog that I launched at Slingshot. The vision for this blog was to serve as a self-promotional tool for the agency that:

  • drives traffic to the agency website, mainly via social media sharing and search.
  • acts as a conversation starter with brands that we might be interested in starting a relationship with.
  • establishes the agency as a thought leader in the mobile and emerging technologies/marketing platforms.

There were a lot of considerations that went into the concept and production of the blog. Here’s a few of the highlights:

Dallas Ad League Foundation – Website Redesign

The Dallas Advertising League Foundation (DALF) is the philanthropic arm of the Dallas Advertising League. Javelin, the agency I currently work for, has a pro-bono relationship with the foundation where we design and host their web presence every two years or so.

This is my current design, which has just been approved and is actually in production now. I was able to reorganize the homepage into 4 main pieces – 3 being actionable, with giving dominant prominence to the ‘Donate’ action.
